Do you believe if Mr. Obama cared about us, he would care about the serious and vitriolic division her "encourages"? Doesn't he know that goes in the face of the above Founder's declaration? And if he does understand this, why does he continue to divide us while calling himself leader?

You miss a very basic thing about Mr. Obama. He's well aware of whats good...of what would work for the country. That is NOT what he or his supporters want.To destroy the fabric of society....to make GOVERNMENT the central force in all things. THAT is what he wants.
I believe BO is using the standard liberal tactic of divide and conquer - a corollary of the first quote. What I can't decide is the reasons for it. There are really only two possibilities; he knows what he is doing or he doesn't. If he doesn't know then he is a clueless moron. While I don't care for the man, I don't believe he's a moron.



If we assume he knows what he is doing that either makes him an evil tyrannical dictator wanna be or a radical narcissistic ideologue. While it would be easy to claim the first option, I'm actually leaning towards the second. I believe he is trying to break this country down so that he can raise it up into whatever his vision of the perfect society is and be viewed as its savior. And based on his stated goals, that seems to be a socialist society.

Polly - I think Obama genuinely wanted to united us, not divided us -- although who knows. I'm not a mindreader and can't tell what the President is thinking by ESP.



Now a question for you: Do you honestly think that if the GOP clobbers the Democrats this election and destroys Obama's presidency -- which you seem to be about to do -- do you honestly think that the USA won't be a "house divided" after that?



When tens of millions of Democratic voters, however good or bad we are, however smart or stupid you consider us, see the GOP taking power this November after a nasty campaign in which you guys accused Obama of being everything from a Muslim terrorist to a Marxist -- Do you REALLY think that America is going to be a "house united," under Republican leadership?



You offer some fun quotes in your question. But your question reminds me of a quote from the Old Testament:

And I would add - "a president for a president."



If America is a "house divided" under Obama and the Democrats, it's going to continue being a "house divided" under YOUR rightwing regime, too.



It's not only "elephants" who never forget. The rest of us have political memories also.
Lincoln used those words in his famous House Divided speech. Nearly half the nation rose up in rebellion when he was elected because of obstinacy in their desire to cling to slavery. President Obama understands the principle very well. He has to do what is right and just for the country. He can't try to avoid controversy by caving to the other side when they are clearly wrong. People today are still dividing the country with their obstinacy. The problem is not Obama.



The problem is a vitriolic right wing that has determined that the only way is their way. When Republicans quit acting like sore losers, we can be united.



During the inauguration Obama said he was willing to extend the hand of peace if you are willing to unclench your fist.

You do realize that Lincoln wanted the house united HIS WAY. By your logic, Lincoln should have given the South it's way and kept slavery just to be a uniting leader.
Why do you assume President Obama is doing the dividing? The Party of "No" name for the Republicans is recent. If anything Obama is guilty of assuming that his good ideas would be accepted by a majority of the House and Senate. There is too much politics in the politicians.
